Do You Want To Play?

I hope you are doing fantastic.  I just got back from the field where I was training some of our NFL guys and boy did I have fun!  I had LaDanian Tomlinson (RB, Jets,–wow, does that sound weird), Charles “Peanut” Tillman (CB, Bears), and Malcolm Floyd (WR, Chargers) out there amongst some of our other young upcoming stars.  What I really love about going to the field and doing “field work” with these guys is we get to “play.”  Not only do I put them through a bunch of agility drills and football drills, I get to throw to them and see if this ole’ QB still has it in him.  Man, did I have fun throwing deep routes to Malcom and hitting LT out of the backfield.  I love my job and I love when I get to go out to the field and “play!”

I share this with you because I want to make sure you are “playing” in your life also.  I say it in our workouts all the time with our clients:  “Make sure you are playing today!  Work hard, loosen up, have some fun, and play. Think of this as your playground and for the next 45 minutes, PLAY!”

My friends, somewhere along the line, we have lost the element of “play.”   As kids, we used to play all the time.  I have to admit, I used to love dodgeball and tag.  Nowadays, our lives are so structured and rigid that we rarely just loosen up and play.

My encouragement to you is to think of your workouts as “play-time.”  It is sacred time to relax, enjoy, burn stress, smile, and have fun.  And while you may not have dodgeballs being thrown at your face or be on a field re-living your glory days, if nothing else, approach your workouts as “Play-time” and have some fun.

Speaking of “fun,” I am currently in a year-long “Coaching Program” with a man named Robin Sharma.  He is the best-selling author of “The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari” and “The Greatness Guide,” amongst others.   He recently shared an exercise called “The 8 Forms of Wealth” that I would like to share with you.  See the video below to listen to the short clip on these “8 Forms of Wealth.”
